No guru, no method, no teacher

Van Morrison is problematic. Sometimes he’s so precious, easy listening or POETIC that I just want to slap him. But he’s one of the few pop singers who can tackle spirituality directly without looking like an ass. And give the guy his due, he wrote and sang the song “G-L-O-R-I-A” (with session musician Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin on guitar), which inspired even Patti Smith it was so awesome. Even at his worst, he’s not as insufferable as Sting.

Here’s one of the good ones. The title says it all.
